If you're after lung-burning uphill climbs and adrenaline-charged descents, Stonefly, the new Mt Buller track designed by World Trail's Glen Jacobs, is the place for you. Kicking off at Howqua Gap, which sits 1420 metres above sea level, the trail provides access to the top of Mt Stirling and snakes its way through stands of Mountain Ash, past waterfalls, creeks, bridges and rocky outcrops. Sweat it out on the climb to the top and take in some well-earned views of the valleys below, then hold your breath and your nerve for the downhill run.
