Ridgway Place

Ridgway Place, Melbourne, Victoria, 3000

Nestled up at the top end of town, Ridgway Place has long been a quiet haven away from the hectic pace of Collins Street.

Take a stroll past the historic Melbourne Club, whose towering red brick walls are crowned with lush vines and expansive foliage. Formed in 1838 and boasting former prime ministers, world-renowned artists and mining magnates within its ranks, the Melbourne Club is one of the city's oldest and most exclusive men's clubs.

The laneway gender balance swings back by way of The Lyceum Club, a women's club that was established in 1912. Inspired by its London namesake, the club's membership is made up of women who have distinguished themselves in art, music, literature, philanthropy or public service.

If you're not already a member of one of these exclusive men's or women's clubs, a perfect cuppa might be more appealing. Pop into the first standalone Sensory Lab cafe in Melbourne. Looking like a Japanese subway train jammed into an arcade, the new outlet for these coffee maestros is actually as much about the specialty tea as it is about the coffee.
