In her debut solo exhibition, Sunstudios Emerging Photographer Award winner (2017) Annette Ruzicka begins uncovering a very personal story—beginning with a pair of new shoes found at the scene of her father’s death.
My Father’s Runners melds the past and the present to explore the impact of violence and buried trauma on generations that follow. Focusing on the reality of what happened to her own family, and told in her own words, Ruzicka’s account of tragedy and strength is wide-open and all-too familiar for countless families throughout Australia.
A small detail in big story, buried for almost thirty years. Annette Ruzicka is an award-winning documentary photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. Annette’s life before photography developed in her a strong desire to share stories and reveal the heroes behind under-reported issues in Australia.
