Legends and Champions Tour

Melbourne is a renowned sporting capital. Celebrate its sporting heritage while you tour behind the scenes of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, including walking on to the ground. Explore the interactive National Sports Museum, including the relocated Champions Racing Museum and Gallery.

Enjoy a pub-style lunch.

Visit 'Living Legends', a farm that is home to some of our favourite retired champion race horses. Meet the horses and enjoy afternoon tea in the homestead at Woodlands Estate, where you can also watch mobs of kangaroos in their natural environment.

  • This tour operates as a public tour during the Spring Racing Carnival (Monday Oct 31 2016) and year round as a public tour.

Tour highlights:
  • Tour departs from Federation Square Day Tour Centre, corner Russell St and Flinders St.
    The Legends and Champions Tour departs at 9:30am from Federation Square Day Tour Centre on the corner of Russell Street and Flinders Streets or approximately 9:45am from Spencer St/Southern Cross Station. Selected City Hotel Pick ups also available upon request between 9:15am and 9:45am. Please contact the office on by phone or email to confirm. Tour concludes at approximately 5pm.
  • Melbourne Cricket Ground Tour
    Tour behind the scenes of the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The MCG is Australia's most significant sports stadium dating back to 1853 having been used for the 1956 Olympics, Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, International Cricket and Australian Rules Football. Highlights of the tour (all subject to availability) include; The Northern Stand, Coaches box, Media Centre, Players change rooms (football and cricket), Cricket viewing room, the exclusive Member's areas - including the Long Room, Bill Lawry Cricket Centre, The Ponsford Stand - Aerial views, and walk on the hallowed turf (arena). An unforgettable experience for sports lovers.
  • National Sports Museum
    Visit the National Sports Museum located at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, home to Australia’s most extensive collection of sporting heritage and multi-media displays. More than just a museum, it captures the spirit of Australia's rich sporting traditions. Includes the MCG story and an extensive interactive area for kids of all ages, Sport Australia Hall of Fame, Olympic, AFL, Cricket Areas, Champions Horse Racing Museum, Sports Cinemas and much more.
  • Living Legends
    Visit Living Legends at Woodlands Historic Park, home to our favourite retired champion race horses such as Fields of Omagh, Might and Power, Silent Witness, Better Loosen Up, Rogan Josh, Apache Cat, Chief De Beers, Brew and Paris Lane, as well as recent additions, 2007 Melbourne Cup Winner Efficient, and his old mate Zipping. Meet the horses, watch kangaroos in their natural environment, and enjoy afternoon tea in the homestead/museum at Woodlands Estate.
