Famous for its historic, mellow limestone buildings and its perfect seaside location, Sorrento is one of the Mornington Peninsula’s most loved villages. And sitting right atop its main street hill is Just Fine Food, famous for its beautiful Edwardian architecture, its charm and for the utterly divine vanilla slices which emerge from its kitchen.
A favourite with locals and regular holidaymakers for more than 30 years, Just Fine Food makes every dish onsite from simple, fresh ingredients that are sourced locally where possible. The menu has evolved over time to reflect contemporary choices such as wholesome-and-healthy, vegan and gluten free. But some things never change, and the vanilla slice is one of them.
Sean Ghumman, new owner of Just Fine Food, says there is absolutely no compromise, with only the freshest, best quality ingredients used to create these big, creamy and rich slices.
While the vanilla slice is certainly the café’s piece de resistance, Chef Paul’s utterly decadent chocolate croissant cake and Chef Julie’s famous white chocolate cheese cake are arguably as good.
For a more savoury choice, Chef Shaun’s prime beef burger on a brioche bun is often touted as the Mornington Peninsula’s finest burger.
