In this hectic fast-moving environment, many of us wander around Lilydale on a daily basis and rarely notice everyday objects, items or activities that make up the fabric of Lilydale. There are many sites of historical significance but there are also places that are just really interesting. Once you open your eyes, it is amazing what you notice and then realise that it has always been there.
Inspired by the Welcome to Lilydale project which saw five artists in 2017 undergo social and cultural research into Lilydale, the YRPS responded with Unseen Lilydale. Visitors to the exhibition can have a 16 page publication comprising of a series of specifically designed symbols and stories outlining secret histories of Lilydale. The publication will maintain the playful, quirky and curious nature of the whole project.
The Yarra Ranges Photographic Society invite the public to help compile a photographic portfolio of unseen life in Lilydale. Please enter your image to the Unseen Lilydale Facebook page.
Unseen Lilydale will officially open on Friday 20 April at 6:00pm.
- Daily: 10:00am - 4:00pm
