The Ballarat Begonia Festival has a long and rich history, beginning in 1953, with now over 60,000 visitors enjoying the event over the March Long Weekend.
The festival program offers an array of exciting activities for both adults and children, involving the community in a healthy, free, outdoor nature experience.
This year's highlights include:
On the Begonia Stage:
Saturday, 7 March: Costa Georgiadis and Sophie Thomson from Gardening Australia and dirtgirl from famous ABC Kids show 'Dirtgirlword'.
Sunday, 8 March: Celebrity Chef Poh Ling Yeow, 2019 MasterChef finalists Tim Bone and Anushka Zargaryan.
Monday, 9 March: PowerFM Begonia Parade along Wendouree Parade, ABC kids' favourite blue heeler Bluey and magician Barry Govan.
Throughout the three day festival:
Begonia Display in the Conservatory, Gardener's and Creative Designer's Markets for purchasing opportunities, Begonia Courtyard with The Forge Pizzeria, Begonia Bar with Red Duck Brewery, Cubby Haus Brewing, Kilderkin Distillery and Wightwick Wines, Pot-A-Plant activity with the BotaniKids, Paint with the Society of Artists, Super Sandpit, Obstacle Course with kids gym classes, Build your own mini tree house to take home, Live Music on three stages and lots of roving entertainment, and Plenty of food outlets.
