Ballarat is a great place to ride. Cycle your way around the six-kilometre Lake Wendouree and the adjoining Botanical Gardens stopping by one of the lakeside cafes for a coffee break or picnic by the water’s edge and observe the abundant birdlife.
Cycling is an easy way to visit some of Ballarat's attractions including Sovereign Hill, the Eureka Centre and the Gold Museum.
They offer hire of regular bicycle (Avanti three-speed) or electric bicycles (Kahlkoff seven-speed) delivered to your accommodation in Ballarat (within 10 kilometres of the CBD) so all you have to do is ride. Hire for a half day or by the day with helmets and locks included.
If you would like a bigger adventure, join their Ballarat-Skipton rail trail tour. Cycle the unsealed but gentle-gradient 53 kilometre rail trail as it takes you through wide-open country with sweeping vistas and bushland passing through small settlements of Smythesdale, Scarsdale, Linton and Skipton.
A 12-seater van and 15-bike trailer are available for shuttling cyclists and their bicycles around the region.
