Back to nature
Begin your journey in Dunkeld. Take a wander through the tranquil Dunkeld Arboretum, see spring wildflowers in bloom, and revel in the excellent views of the Grampians' Bainggug, Mount Sturgeon and Mount Abrupt.
Volcanoes and botanic gardens
Stop off in historic Penshurst, home to quaint bluestone buildings, the Wetlands Garden and the Volcanoes Discovery Centre. Make your way up to the peak of extinct volcano, Mount Rouse, to view the landscape of the surrounding volcanic plains.
Hit the road again and head towards Hamilton. Discover the treasures of local homesteads at the renowned Hamilton Regional Art Gallery and while away an hour or two in the outstanding Hamilton Botanic Gardens.
Coleraine to Cavendish
View the spectacular Wannon and Nigretta Falls en route to Coleraine. Sample handmade chocolates at the local Glenelg Fine Confectionery and then take a wander along the paths of Australia's Official Eucalypt Collection at the Points Arboretum.
Press on to Cavendish and disembark for a stroll along the banks of the Wannon River on Settlers Walk. Finish your day with the most spectacular views of the Grampians as you pass through the Mirranatwa Gap.
