Tour one - Tower Hill Volcano - Yambuk Estuary Tour
Saturday 1:00pm. Meet at Port Fairy Visitors Centre, Railway Place Bank Street.
“The Story of Fire and Ice” You will visit the Tower Hill volcano then head west along the coast to the Crags and finally walk to the mouth of Yambuk Lake. Traveling with Mike Raetz a local geologist who will interpret the Pleistocene landscape with evidence of climate change over 300,000 years and major volcanic eruptions.
Tour two - Mount Eccles Volcano - Budj Bim National Park
Sunday 1:00pm. Meet at Port Fairy Visitors Centre, Railway Place Bank Street.
“The Story of a volcano and it’s ancient people” You will visit the volcano that erupted 30,000 years ago. You will look into the crater-lake, nearby lava channels and remains of a lava tunnel. Travelling with Mike Raetz a local geologist who will interpret the volcanic landscape and explain how this connected with Aboriginal occupation.
