What do you get when you cross the country with a bunch of passionate volunteers and a trail that needs some love? You get told - “on your bike” and join the crowd heading to the Whistlestop Progressive High Tea.
The High Country Rail Trail is looking healthier than she ever has thanks to her recent upgrades. Join her as she hugs the Murray River, luring you lakeside among the striking colours of autumn and through magnificent patches of box woodlands,. Along the way, be sure to indulge your stomach (not just your eyes) and step back in time to the ‘50s for the naughtiest of high teas. Scones, sponges, and lots of butter await - all locally sourced, much of it lovingly homemade.
The low down:
- Whistlestop High Tea is a 24 kilometre return cycle from Huon Reserve over the Sandy Creek Inlet bridge to Tallangatta and return. High tea (1950’s style) with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.
- Be sure to bring your bicycle, helmet and water bottle. Please watch the High Country Rail Trail website for further information including registrations.
