Hedonistic Hiking's South West Coast and Grampians

Lydiard Street South, 5/7, Ballarat Central, Victoria, 3350

Known as “the birthplace of Victoria”, the far south west coastal region of Hedonistic Hiking's home state is wonderfully wild and remote. This new tour here explores this fascinating landscape before heading north across the plains to the spectacular mountains of the Southern Grampians. Traditional owners have been occupying these ranges for thousands of years and refer to them as Gariwerd. With three nights in each location you get to enjoy a fantastic variety of hikes, seeing seal colonies, volcanoes, petrified forests, unique rock formations and a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

As with all tours they focus on the very best local produce along the way and the final evening is at the renowned Royal Mail in Dunkeld, where you'll enjoy the inspirational cuisine of chef Robin Wickens. Not only does The Royal Mail have one of Australia’s finest working kitchen gardens but also an award-winning wine cellar. You'll stay in two accommodations, a charming guesthouse in Portland by the coast and Mount Sturgeon Homestead in Dunkeld at the southern tip of the Grampians mountain range.

Hedonistic Hiking is a small company, owned and operated by Jackie and Mick Parsons, offering gourmet guided walking holidays in Australia, Italy, Slovenia, France and Austria. Hedonistic Hiking specialises in tours in the Victorian High Country and along the Great Ocean Walk, and offers a mix of scheduled and tailor-made itineraries.

The tour groups are small and friendly and the walking is enjoyably challenging, while the support vehicle enables you to walk as much or as little as you please. A mixture of fine dining experiences and gourmet picnic lunches ensures that you sample the very best food and wine that the region has to offer, and the emphasis is always on premium quality, locally-sourced produce.

Hedonistic Hiking is committed to sustainability, so through the tours you contribute directly to supporting small businesses in the area.

Jackie and Mick spend half the year in northeast Victoria and are passionate about the food, the wine and the walking of this region. Perhaps more importantly they offer unsurpassed personal service on each and every tour, and it is this above all which brings people back to Hedonistic Hiking year after year.
