Duration: Two days; Melbourne to Healesville – 1 hr 15 mins, Healesville to Marysville – 20 mins, Marysville to Melbourne – 90 mins.

Head from Melbourne to Healesville and across to Marysville to take in breathtaking natural wonders as well as Victoria's most popular wildlife attraction and some of Australia's best wines.

First stop Healesville, where stunning scenery abounds in all directions.

See over 200 species of Australian wildlife at Healesville Sanctuary, including the elusive lyrebird and platypus.

Wander through enclosures to see animals in their native habitats or join a Meet the Keeper session to learn about the animals.

Travel to Marysville surrounded by spectacular tall forests of mountain ash, and lush green ferns on the road known as the Black Spur.

The road winds its way through the Yarra Ranges between Healesville and Narbethong on the Maroondah Highway.

In Marysville visit Victoria's highest waterfalls – Steavenson Falls – an 84 metre drop to the bush and fern-fringed Steavenson River below. See the falls illuminated at night.

Hit the snow in Mount Donna Buang and Lake Mountain for tobogganing and cross-country skiing during the snow season, or see the mountains ablaze with wildflowers in summer.

Make your way back down the mountain, and call in at cellar doors in the Yarra Valley, to sample some of Australia's finest wines.

Some routes in this region, particularly Lady Talbot Drive, may be affected by seasonal road closures. Always check road status before you head out on your trip.
