Catch the perfect break in Victoria, with wild ocean beaches for seasoned pros and gentle swells at protected beaches for beginners.

Great Ocean Road

Home to the Rip Curl Pro, a surf at Bells Beach is a must. From here, explore the reef breaks and rocky shorelines from Jan Juc and Cathedral Rock to the beaches between Lorne and Apollo Bay.  Discover the wild western surf areas past Cape Otway all the way through to Port Campbell, Portland and Cape Bridgewater. Seasoned surfers, don't miss Johanna Beach. A back-up venue for the Rip Curl Pro, it's one of the state's best breaks.

Phillip Island

Declared a National Surfing Reserve in recognition of its quality breaks and pristine environment, Phillip Island offers four sites along its coast: Smiths Beach, Summerland and Cat Bay and Cape Woolamai – considered one of the best beach breaks in the country.

In Gippsland, powerful tides entice surfers to Venus Bay throughout the year, and experienced surfers tackle the rough surf of Pearl Point in Cape Conran Coastal Park, while learners stick to Sandy Point, the Inverloch surf beach and sheltered Bastion Point at Mallacoota.

Bellarine Peninsula

On the Bellarine Peninsula, find strong, steady waves for intermediate surfers at Point Lonsdale, Ocean Grove and 13th Beach at Barwon Heads.

Mornington Peninsula

Head around to the ocean side of the Mornington Peninsula to find a beach to suit your experience, from the gentler Sorrento waters to the sometimes fierce waves off Gunnamatta. For consistent breaks try the ocean beaches at Point Leo, Flinders, Portsea and Sorrento.
