Fields of spring bulbs
Take a scenic drive to the Dandenong Ranges and see over a million fragrant tulips at the annual Tesselaar Tulip Festival. From mid-September to mid-October each year the gardens are transformed by a kaleidoscope of colour, with rows upon rows of recently bloomed tulips on show. Visitors can also soak up the beauty of the farm's cherry blossom trees early in the season.
Wander around the farm, purchase some bulbs or fresh flowers to take home with you and immerse yourself in the festival's vibrant atmosphere. Highlights include the tulip tractor ride, market stalls, a fairy garden and a treasure hunt for the little ones, as well as live entertainment every day, traditional Dutch foods (and other treats) on offer and a clog shop complete with Australia's largest clog. Time your visit with a themed day of your choice, with events including Turkish Weekend, Children's Week, Dutch Weekend, and Food, Wine and Jazz Weekend, to name a few.
Can't get enough of the floral fever? Come March through April, the farm also runs Tesselaar KaBloom, where millions of seasonal flowers burst into life and highlight events like the bespoke Flower Circus also takes place.
